IMPROVE WORKPLACE PERFORMANCE AND HEALTH

enhancing your corporate wellness offerings

Evidence-based, culturally competent, and

shift-work specific nutrition content developed by registered dietitians.

from reactive to preventative health

Wellness initiatives supporting mental and physical health is currently trending at the forefront of organizational priorities.

Rotating shifts and extended working hours are significant risk factors for both chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer and mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety.

The reality is many shift workers are close to burn out.  Taking days off due to health-related issues is becoming more and more common, creating financial and operational burdens.

In certain industries, changing work schedules is not easily done,  but changing nutrition habits can be.

Your wellness program can set you apart as an employer, protecting your ROI and your front-line operator health.

Our nutrition content is intentionally tailored to your industry and your organizational values to deliver the greatest impact and sustainable change.

Why Most Workplace Wellness Programs Fall Short

Too general

1/3 of the population is suggested to work in industries that do shift work.  33% of working adults experience challenges that the 9-5 population does not.

The health strategies they receive need to go far beyond Canada's Food Guide or generic statements such as 'eat healthy', 'stay hydrated',  'get good sleep', and 'exercise'.

They need the specifics of how to implement healthy changes that can realistically fit into their rotating shift schedule.

Out of touch

Getting advice from health care professionals that have never experienced a night shift in their life doesn't always land well.

We get it. Our dietitians are intimately familiar with the world of shift work and provide culturally competent services.  We're always willing to do a ride-along to feel what those on night shift feel.

Not engaging

Reading from a slide of text-packed science is not how we operate.

Our presentations provide engaging content and visuals, with real life food examples, packed lunches, and we're always sampling - from supplements to snacks to energy drinks.

We'll come to your site kitchens or your board room.

Programming scheduled on days off

We've worked with hundreds of shift workers (and lived with them), and this is what we've heard: days off are one of the most valuable commodities they have.

It's their time to recover from night shifts and catch up with their families, friends, and loved ones.

While sometimes it's unavoidable, health training offered on days off will result in low attendance and poor engagement.

Mandatory attendance  on days off (without compensation - time or money) produces disgruntled and apathetic employees, which can negatively impact the review of your wellness initiatives.

Prioritizing nutrition education as part of onboarding or annual training will improve retention through a program.  Offer time off as a incentive for participation, and your engagement rates may soar!

Families are not included

In many families, the spouse at home carries the load of grocery shopping, meal planning,  meal prep, and packing lunches.

Our dietitians are the family members of shift workers too, and we are passionate about supporting spouses, kids, and other family who live with a shift worker.

Engaging with the family and addressing the sources of stress that can arise from the dinner table provides lasting change for the employee at work, because they are supported on both fronts.

Certain shifts get missed

The challenge with shift work is...the shift work!

Change over between day shift and night shift means somebody misses out on the session, or they have to watch it on their own time.

We offer flexible scheduling with discounts for repeating presentations so you can offer the same experience to all employees while staying within budget.

Optional workplace health initiatives send a powerful message: employee health is optional.

Securing your investment

Time is money

Contracting nutrition services to compliment your wellness program saves your wellness coordinator or peer support team time and energy in sourcing reputable and engaging nutrition content.

Cost savings

Adding registered dietitian services to your health benefits is an additional cost to the employer and the employee that not everyone will use, but everyone pays for.  Providing virtual or on-site services is cost-effective, increases engagement and reaches more front line operators than just the ones who utilize their benefits.

Neutral third-party

Our dietitians can bridge the gap between the employer's expectations for output and the employee's challenges that hinder performance, creating a win-win scenario.
