My name is Raina, and I've lived in the greater Edmonton area for most of my life.
I'm a mom to our miracle boy, who came into our life in the middle of a long journey with unexplained infertility. I'm also luckily (and happily) married to a shift worker.
As a registered dietitian working in private practice for almost eight years and now as an online dietitian, I've brought my experience in weight management and chronic disease prevention to my shift worker family across Canada.
Working shift work can mean feeling tired all the time. It can mean feeling confused about when to eat and what to eat.
It can also mean your risk for chronic disease is very high. The good news is, none of that has to be your reality.
I'm passionate about helping shiftworkers increase their energy and improve their health.
I strongly believe in a food-first, non-restrictive approach. If we address your diet, we can set you up for success in the long run
without the need for products, cleanses, or a lot of pills.
With the right tools, skills, and knowledge, you can take control of your health and your shifts.
Let's make your career long, sustainable, and feel awesome—with a coffee in hand of course.
I believe that nutrition recommendations need to be both specific and practical to your schedule, your family needs, and your preferences and lifestyle.
I start with the evidence-based recommendations for shift work and then work with you to make it fit for your life.
At any point in the program you can tell me, “Raina that’s nice, but it’s never going to happen”. That’s okay! Good goals are the ones that will fit and work for you!
We take a look at your chronotype, your fitness routine, your current stress levels, your diet, and other areas of challenge to determine our goal priorities.
Every week you come away with small, sustainable goals that keep your circadian rhythm aligned, fuel your body, support your sleep, and improve how your shifts feel.
Even if you've tried every diet under the sun, we can still make changes.
Even if you feel your sleep and schedule are so far gone it's not even funny, it's not too late.
Even if you literally just started a career in shift work and you feel great, it's never too early to put prevention strategies in place.
You should be able to implement a plan and structure that works with your job and consistently work towards your health goals.
